A superslim floorstander with the fullness of much larger boxes.

The Knight 3 is the big brother of the Knight 1, our favourite bookshelf under $1000. The 3 features the exact same woofer, and tweeter but with a slightly different crossover to accommodate the larger internal dimensions of the cabinet. The result is the same wonderful midrange and non-fatiguing highs as the 1, but with about 15% more volume capability and bass extension.

In most loudspeaker designs, room modes are easily excited by forward or rear-firing reflex ports, which can cause resonance and a resulting 'boom' at particular bass frequencies. This is one of the main reasons we have not recommended inexpensive floorstanding speakers in the past. Unique at this price point, the Knight 3 uses a transmission line bass port which comes out evenly in 360 degrees at the bass of the speaker. This provides a much more even bass output than a single port. As a result, bass frequencies are very natural and don't overstep the beautiful midrange and treble of this speaker. A stunning inexpensive floorstander which competes with and outperforms comparable "slim" towers up to $2000.

Combined with the expanded range, there is the aesthetic benefit of an elegant thin tower and the cost savings of not needing to buy speaker stands.
